Before you choose
The number that matters most when you are booking is how many beds there are and how wide they are. Here is the whole picture.
There are 22 rooms in this building, in three categories: 6 suites, 5 king rooms and 11 twin rooms. Every room has its own bathroom, and breakfast is included in the rate.
The three categories are named for the beds in them. The building is a retrofit, so rooms inside the same category are not identical — some are a little larger, some look over Weiyang Road and some face the back of the house.
Which means the single most useful thing you can tell us is who is travelling. Two friends who want separate beds. A couple. A family with two children. Say that, and we will tell you which room fits, what is in it, and what it costs.
The three categories
How many rooms, what is in them, who they suit, and the parts that vary from room to room.
Suite · six rooms
Six rooms, and the largest we have. Count the beds across all six and this is what the category holds: two 1.8 m beds (about 6 ft), three 1.5 m beds (4 ft 11 in), and twelve single beds at 1.35 m (4 ft 5 in). Twelve singles across six rooms works out at two each, which is why a suite is usually a larger bed plus two singles — and why families with children do well here.
We will not pretend that describes all six identically, because it does not. Tell us how many of you there are and how you would like to sleep, and we will reply with the exact beds in the room we can hold for you.

King room · five rooms
Five rooms, and each one has a single 1.8 m bed — about 6 ft wide. That is the entire description of the sleeping arrangements. If you are two people who each want your own half of the bed, or one person who wants the whole thing, this is the room.
What differs between the five is the outlook and the exact floor space, and we cannot promise you a particular one until we know your dates. If space matters more to you than anything else, say so in your enquiry and we will tell you what is free.

Twin room · eleven rooms
Eleven rooms, and the format most people want when they are travelling with a friend, a colleague, a sibling or a parent. Ten of them have two 1.35 m beds (4 ft 5 in). One has two 1.2 m beds (3 ft 11 in), which are noticeably narrower.
Because this is the biggest category, it is also the most varied. If you have a strong preference — a higher floor, the wider beds, away from the road — say so when you book rather than when you arrive. We cannot promise what is already taken, but we can tell you what is available.

In the room
Most of it exists because a guest asked for it. Some of it exists because we have slept badly in hotels ourselves.
A bed is the one thing in a room that cannot be fixed after the fact, so we would rather talk about it than describe it. Firmness is personal, though: if you are particular about a mattress, tell us before you book and we will be straight with you about whether this is the right room for you.
If you have flown in from Europe or North America, your body clock will be several hours out for the first two nights, and light is what decides when you wake up. The curtains in the rooms block it. Guests who have been walking all day tend to appreciate being able to sleep past sunrise.
Every one of the 22 rooms has a private bathroom. Nobody is sharing a shower down the corridor or queuing at the desk for a key. It is a low bar, and it is surprising how often it is missed.
Five floors, one elevator, and it stops at all of them. You will not be carrying a suitcase up four flights at the end of a travel day, and you will not be doing it again the morning you leave.
Included, not an extra on the bill. It is served in the garden restaurant downstairs, cooked with local Hunan ingredients, and the kitchen will keep it plain if you would rather not start the day with chilli. Want to be out early? Tell us the night before.
Rooms are cleaned every day, and it is the thing we argue about internally more than any other. If something is not right, tell the desk that evening and it gets dealt with the same day, not the day you leave.
The building sits on Weiyang Road, so rooms at the back are quieter than rooms over the front. If you are a light sleeper, say so when you book rather than mentioning it at check-in. It is the easiest request we get to grant, and the hardest one to fix afterwards.
Pickups can be arranged from Zhangjiajie Hehua Airport (DYG) or Zhangjiajie West high-speed rail station — roughly 40 to 60 minutes by road. Send your arrival details in advance and we will confirm the pickup and the time with you.

Yes. Eleven of the 22 rooms are twins with two separate beds. Ten of them have two 1.35 m beds (4 ft 5 in); one has two 1.2 m beds (3 ft 11 in), which are narrower. If you specifically want the wider beds, ask when you book — we will tell you honestly whether one is free for your dates rather than promising it.
No room looks out at the sandstone pillars — those are inside the park, further up the valley. The building is on Weiyang Road, so some rooms face the street and some face the back of the house. We cannot promise a specific outlook before we know your dates, but tell us what you would prefer and we will tell you what is available.
If the view is the point of your trip, the fifth-floor terrace is where you get it. It is open to everyone staying here, at no charge.
Zhangjiajie is humid in July and August and genuinely cold in January, so heating and cooling are not small details. To be added: confirm the heating and air-conditioning in each room type before this page goes live. Ask us when you enquire and we will tell you exactly what the room you are being offered has. We would rather answer the question twice than have you arrive unsure.
To be added: mattress specification and firmness. No sentence on a website settles this question anyway, because firmness is personal. What we can tell you is that it is a question we take seriously: if you sleep badly on a soft mattress, or you need something firm for your back, tell us before you arrive and we will tell you what we have and whether we can do anything about it.
Usually yes. Guests heading up the mountain on their last day leave bags with us and collect them before their bus or train. To be added: confirm checkout time and how late luggage can be stored. Tell us the night before if you need it, so we can plan around it.
To be added: check-in and check-out times. If your train arrives early in the morning or leaves late at night, ask us anyway. With 22 rooms we can often work around your schedule, and we would rather try than have you sit in a bus station.
No, and we would rather say so now. The building is a retrofit, so rooms within a category differ in floor space and outlook, and the suites differ in how the beds are arranged. What is consistent is the category, the bed sizes listed above, your own bathroom, breakfast, and the elevator.
